Hi
When I try to rsync between two of my servers I get this error:
QUOTE
xxx.xxx.xx.xx: Connection refused
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(151)
Anyone knows what causes this and how to get it working?

Perhaps your trying to login as root and have direct root logins disabled in ssh? Make sure that you can ssh into whatever accoutn your acessing from the other server.

I had gotten this same error. I has nothing to do with with root login. The only thing that has changed that could have affected it was the recent upgrade of ssh. Not sure really what that would have to do with it, but if anyone has any idea, I would love to hear it.

How are you trying to connect?

Through ssh.
I do not use the root account to do backups with rsync, but have a specific user to do this.
One thing I have noticed is that between the two server, they each have a different rsync version. However, it was this way before and it was working.
Just for reference, yes I can shh into one server from the other so that is not a problem.
