I've been having a problem with my server load going way up and maxing out my system. I think it has something to do with big log files that some of the sites are creating, they are paid to read email sites that send out lots of email everyday.
I've been getting emails like this one
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[statscheck] Stats/Server Overload on webman.webmantaner.com
IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
This is cPanel stats runner on webman.webmantaner.com!
While processing the log files for user maniac, the cpu has been
maxed out for more then a 6 hour period. The current load/uptime line on the server at the time of
this email is
2:41am up 1 day, 12:12, 2 users, load average: 1.29, 0.72, 0.85
You should check the server to see why the load is so high and take
steps to lower the load. If you want stats to continue to run even with a high load; Edit
/var/cpanel/cpanel.config and change extracpus to a number larger then 0 (run
/usr/local/cpanel/startup afterwards to pickup the changes).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also have some very big logs building up in this directory.
var/log
I was watching my server load, was around 2 or 3. I went to the directory above and copied and emptied the lastlog file. I then checked the server load and it went below 1. The log hasnt updated since I messed with it, about 12 hours back. So I dont know whether I messed something up, or what.
What I'd like to know, is where can I view the customer logs, like the log where I'm getting the message above, and how to make these logs back themsleves up and refresh to where they start new every day.
