Hello,

I am looking for some assistance with an error I am receiving amongst other things:

------------------------------------

[ipcheck] Problems with dns setup on (my.boxname.net)

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
The hostname (my.boxname.net) resolves to ._ It should resolve to
(my.main.IP)_ Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in
zone file for the domain.

Some are all of these problems can be caused by
/etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly._ Please check this file if you
believe everything else is correct.

You may be able to
automaticly correct this problem by using the ' Add an A entry for your
hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager

------------------------------------

I had this error previously when I was initially setting up my server, a tech went in and fixed it, though I'm not exactly sure what he did. Last night I was attempting to setup my own nameservers & I was following the directions in the ("How To - Cpanel Nameservers") Which seems to be a very helpful thread, but I am having some problems with everything working per the directions.

I am at the point where if anyone who is very Cpanel & server proficient would like to make some good quick cash then I would definitely pay to have it setup & bullet proof!

Any takers??

Thx much..

I am having this same exact problem and i cant seem to find a Fix for it...I have searched this entire forum and nothing works to fix this.

Can Anyone help me with this issue?

You should verify that the name servers listed in /etc/resolv.conf are working and answering to the DNS lookup request for your hostname. You should also ensure that you are able to resolve the hostname from the server. The command below should return the IP address of your server.

host name.of.server.here

If both are working fine, run the script:

/scripts/ipcheck

and see if it pukes or not.

Same As Always

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
The hostname (host.mydomainname.com) resolves to . It should resolve to XX.xx.xxx.xx. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

I've been dealing with this same issue for a while. Do we have to manually create the db file?
Legacy

I noticed this email in my box over with a different company, im suspecting it's because my nameservers havn't fully propogated yet.
Legacy
nope..thats not my problem either...have had server for a few months now....

Anyone Help with this?
Legacy
Guess not......

Thanks Anyways....

I was speaking with one of my clients yesterday who mentioned the same issue and did confirm that CPanel folks are working on it. I don't have much details but this is what I have from my client. You might want to check directly with CPanel.

I get these emails as well although my IPs are fine. Somewhere it is still reading my old ip addresses (moved to new server). I ran the /scripts/ipcheck and it returned to comand line no prob. Should I simply ignore the emails?

Try to use the "Perform a DNS Cleanup" and then the "Add an A Entry for your Hostname"

I am getting this error now as well after moving to a new server. I think it might be the old box that is still plugged in but not not reimaged yet.

I looked at the ipcheck script and noticed that its using geteth0() to compare the resolved IP to. I looked on the new box and all settings seem to be right and I ran
/sbin/ifconfig eth0 | awk '/inet/ { print $2 }' | awk -F ":" '{ print $2 }'
and it returned the correct new IP. I didn't even think to check the source of the ipcheck email notice to see if it was coming from the old box.

My domain name expired and I now use an IP address to browse web content setup under my old domain name. So far everything is working fine this way, however, one month later I received the same email.

Since everything is working fine as is, can anyone tell me what consequences I face by ignoring this email and leaving everything as is?

Does anyone know the easiest way for me to fix this problem without actually breaking something?
