Hi,

I'm going to be installing PHP-Accelerator on two of my domains and was wondering if anyone had any experience doing this on a Raq who could alert me to any pitfalls I might face.

One question before installing it that I need to find the answer to is how do I find out what version of glibc that I have, there's two different options for my version of PHP but the phpinfo() function doesn't help me figure this out.

Thanks,

Mark

RaQ4's have glibc 2.1.3 installed on them. By the way, are you referring to the Zend Optimizer (which is free) or the Zend Accelerator (which costs money. I would quote how much, but zend.com seems to be down at the moment). I'm guessing the Optimizer...

The file I downloaded was ZendOptimizer-1.2.0-PHP_4.0.6-Linux_glibc21-i386.tar.gz
(after upgrading to PHP 4.0.6 with one of the pkg files available at http://pkg.nl.cobalt.com/packages/raq/4/ )

I think he refers to this one

Oops, I didn't know that any other companies had a PHP accelerator out.

Yeah, I meant the one at http://www.php-accelerator.co.uk.

I finally got it to work, there was a minor bug in it that stopped it from running but once I figure it out I'm finding that my site at http://www.thetrolls.com/phpbb/ now runs the PHP programs over twice as fast.

If anyone has any questions on getting it working on a Raq, let me know.

I myself was looking at something like this, but wasn't sure if it would be any good or just cause trouble where not needed. If you wouldn't mind maybe to post a little tutorial on your install steps and specify the problems you encountered with your fixed.

Thanks

I need to install Zend Optimizer (don't know if i really need it ??) as some PHP trade script requires this.

1) Do i need it on my RAQ4?

2) If yes, then how do i do it ?
I have downloaded:
"ZendOptimizer-2[1].1.0b-Linux_glibc21-i386.tar"

And the instructions are:

"Execute the following command"
./install.sh

"Restart Apache"

Wow.................................
The newbie is lost here !!!
