Have run up2date - set hostname - set time - installed firewall

Am looking for HOWTOs for upgrading PHP to 4.3.1 and MySQL4.x.x (latest version). I have searched this forum but haven't had much luck, so was hoping someone else might be able to lend me some of their wisdom please

also, dunno if you did this yet or not:
-turn off telnet
-limit ssh access
-no anon ftp
-block all but required port #'s

I just got one too. My site just got too busy for that old multi-hosted share account, so I took the leap.

Crap! There's alot to configure to get this bizotch working securely.

I wonder if there isn't a thread already that is newbie friendly for setting up the vanilla RedHat box to run safely.
