Hello,

Is there a way to enable regular telnet and/or FTP without needed SSH ??

We are on a RH/Linux 7.3 w/cpanel and we do have some clients that don't use SSH FTP or Telnet client software and would like to allow them to use their software like Cute_FTP or WS_LiteFTP,..etc

I know using SSH is more secure but is it possible to have them use standard Telnet or FTP without using SSH ?? If so, what would need to change or reconfigured ??

Thx's

I found this on a post by aussie and used it to disable telnet

cd /etc/xinetd.d

pico telnet

and change

'disabled = yes' to 'disable = no'

Restart xinetd
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart

If your firewall is also blocking port 23, open it and then restart your firewall

Hope it helps
