I am adding new language files in Japanese and I need to change the default meta's charset

I can help this.

It looks like you are trying to translate a html file (or whatever you can view through browser). If that's the case, try replacing iso-8859-1 with shift_jis .

If you want more than one language charset, change the charset part according to the user's language setting by using switch or if. That's what I would do, rather than taking out the charset part.

I've never done editing the lang file for lang-aware themes, but I have translated lang-unaware one into Japanese, and it was as easy as replacing all the meta tags, of course, but I am not sure about the language file. Sorry about that...

could you teach me how to translate language-unaware one into Japanese please ?

Sure.

It's purely manual, though.
Untar your lang-unaware theme and translate each file that contains (don't forget to change the meta tag charset if applicable).

After it's done, tar the theme again to filename.cptheme (or .whmtheme) and upload it from whm (if you're translating xSkin, for example, don't name it "xSkin", but something like "xSkinJp", or you might delete the original).

If you tar the theme correctly, you should be able to choose the new lang theme from whm.

Please note that, however, all the software CPanel offers (e.g. phpBB) are not in Japanese by default (there are Japanese versions available, but you might have to state how to get the Japanese lang file, etc, for each software if you plan to offer "complete" Japanese service). Also, by default, Horde|NeoMail|Squirrelmail would not send or receive email in Japanese correctly or would not display the menu in Japanese even if "Japanese" option is seleted.

You mean, the best theme for Japanese translation OR in general?
I personally like sim skins by CPSkins.com, simply because it's simple, shows you every function upfront, and is easy to add|delete|modify things on it. Price and customer support is also great. Their next version, I heard, will be lang-aware. If that's the case, I'll have to figure out a way to translate lang-aware theme into Japanese.

BUT you might want to hear others' opinion and to try various skins yourself and see what the best skin is for you (and your customers).
