Hello -

Do I need to have reserve dns set up on *all* of my IPs? or just the IPs that I use for nameservers?

Thanks -

i would thionk at least your nameservers (like you ask) and your main server. some systems wont accept email from your box unless it has a non standard hostname. ie: it wont take anything from a box called ensim.rackshack.net for example.

Ok, so ... I have 3 IPs, two for my DNS (my main server IP is the same as one of the DNS IPs) and one that'll be hosting my websites. So, you're saying that I only need to get Reverse DNS set up on the two that are set up as nameservers? I don't need it on the one that'll be the IP address for my websites?

Also, about the hostname ... you said it had to be non-standard, could you elaborate on that? for instance, I've seen someone say that a good hostname would be: secure.myhostname.com, is that right, or does that fall under 'standard'?

Thanks!

yes, you need the reverse name on the main Ip as well.

you can give the hostname any machine name you want. I use colors myself. you may want to hold off the secure.* and use that as a site name if you get an SSL.
