Why are all our .htaccess files ignored on this system? What could cause the problem and where can I fix it?
Let's say that we have this structure.
/public_html/members/.htaccess
Which says where to fetch the .htpasswd file.
The problem is that the the folder just stays open!
Could the problem be found in the httpd.conf for Apache or is it more simple.

Cpanel has a password protect directory tool built in. Can asign users and pass through web forms in cpanel. Very easy to use.
I use it for my paysites.

Our problem is that Our box just ignores all .htaccess files. It doesen't show them to people but it does not make the commands that are written in the files.
Could it be some kind of config file that has to be modified?

I found the problem under.. httpd.conf
AllowOverride None
I changed the
AllowOverride None to AllowOverride All
It works now.
Wish you all a good week-end.

Hi, I think I have a similar problem, but I couldn't find
AllowOverride None
The closest thing I can find is
#
# AllowOverride FileInfo AuthConfig Limit
any help?

It shure looks like it is in that place.
Good luck and remember to restart httpd after you make the changes.
