What happened to AMD servers? Can someone fill me in - on www.archive.org if you type 'www.rackshack.net' in and goto one of the 2002 entries (cant remeber the exact one), you get a page with Athlon 1900+s in. Whatever happened to those?

I think it has something to do with patrick and or headsurfer not being happy with over heating issues on the AMDs, so they just sell what they have without getting more in

The athlons operated less than optimally in our environment, because of the way we're set up, the Athlon product overheated very quickly and on many occasions, we had them literally burning on the floor. Unfortunately with the number of failures we had, the cost of dealing with them and the cost of service to the customers who purchased them, continuing with them was not worth it by any means. ( We're talking hardware failure ratios in the upper 20-30th percentiles ).

We have not permanently dis-counted them, we're not saying it was the AMD product even per se, but the particular boxes we purchased did not operate very well here, but they will certainly be in a different and cooler form if we bring them back.
