Hi,

Just trying to set up my name servers.

Ok. I have been given the IP:
216.40.246.170 and 216.40.246.171

So I have done this:

1) added the IPs to the IP Aliasing system in plesk. This means that
http://216.40.246.170 now goes to my server.

2) Registered the IPs with my register. ns1.techuk.com and ns2.techuk.com are registered as the WHOIS shows:





3. Updated my DNS for techuk.com



4. Added entries in plesk for the domain techuk.com. It now looks like:




5. Set up techuk.com as a Name Based (i don't want it to use its own IP but the only option was to use Name Based on 216.40.246.39)


However, www.techuk.com does NOT work.

Any ideas?

Can someone help me out here?

I have already a working site (www.skytronic-forums.com) (well I did until now) and the domain is working 100%. I want to make this domain my own dns.

So instead of using ns1 & ns2 rackshanck.net I want to use 2 of my IP's I have optained.

So I have followed the above instructions and changed the dns entries for this domain, changed my domain registar from rackshacks dns to my new dns ns1 &ns2.skytronic-forums.com for skytronic-forums.com.

BUT Its not working.

According to whois its all changed over all ok?

Were have I gone wrong?

Will this work or do I need to use a different domain, has this one is the main domain used when the server was purchased?

Never done this before, looking for help?

216-40-250-69 is my original main IP that I was given with the server.

Also, regarding the below, do you enter both IP's to the Aliasing in plesk because you have only listed one below?

yes, I enter both but it should work on the first i would think as the 2nd is a "backup" or that is how i thought it worked.

It looks like you have changed the DNS template in plesk. If you have edited the settings in Server->DNS then you have done it wrong. You should click on Domains->The_Domain.com->DNS to edit a particular domains DNS.
