My whm works fine. But when i try to login into cpanel itself i get the infamous 404 error.
Things ive did
Install apf
Installed chkrootkit
tripwire
and a few other security steps
All the ports i want open are set right including cpanel ports.
Anyone ever have this problem?
Thanks

Use netstat to see if anything is already bound to 2082, 2083, as a last resort. That or try service cpanel3 restart about 5 or 6 times in a row. If all else fails put in a Cpanel support ticket, and be prepared to wait :o

Thanks HostDime that worked seems when i transfered my accounts over from my reseller account they came over to my server and cpanel didnt attach themes to the user accounts restarting cpanel a few time got it to kick in and it works good now.
Another question i was wondering is why is it when i create a user account youc ant access it by
http://hostname/~username
DO you have to set that up specialy?
Thanks

Sounds like Bandwidth protection is enabled. Run /scripts/easyapache, choose 6, and make sure 'Bandwidth Leech Protection' isnt enabled. Users can bypass Cpanels limits by using ip/~user, and when it gets abused, you run Bandwidth leech protection.

Kris you have been most helpful and i cant thank you enough. One more question and im done. lol im good at securing a server but this cpanel stuff is new.
My clients .cgi scripts will not change from 700 and they arnt allowed to edit them just keeps sayign they are a executable.
Any clues?

If they will not CHMOD from FTP, go into ssh, and find the file say /home/jon/script.cgi do:
chmod 755 /home/jon/script.cgi
That is Read Exec for Group and users, read write exec for Owner.
If that doesnt work, refresh the script with the error like 10 times, then do
tail -10 /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log and show me the exact error.

Oh i dont want to do that manualy for each script. Id be there all night lol. There is something that isnt letting cpanel read the .cgi right. Well if i dont find anything ill try that.
Thanks again
