Same here, $200 setup fee for a server I got last Wednesday. It would be nice if they did something like 1/2 credit on the next month's bill for people who ordered within the last week.
Even with that setup fee, still a great price for a great server.

I bought some servers last week. Had we waited till today we would have saved $458.98 in setup fees. I hate it when timing doesn't work to my favor.
Is there any chance that in the announcement section of the members area RackShack could let us know when you are going to be doing big sales? This would be a nice way to give an extra thanks to all of your members.

Same here also got done for the full setup fees a few days ago. It hurts when you're long time customer and they just spring this on you. This is the third time it's happened to me. Talk about bad luck!

Just so you guys know..... the decision was not made to run this sale until about 30 minutes before we did it.
When we do a sale such as this, we lose about $12,500 per weekday that we do it. So, we had to take a hard look at the budget and see if we could risk doing it.
IF ... we double oru unit volume, we will break even for having done it. Anthing else, and we lose.
I am REALLY shocked that we had 100% concensus amoung the management staff to go ahead and do it.
They have faith in me that it will double sales .... don;t prove them wrong please.
Also .. this just in ... nearly 100 servers already sold today. THANKS. Plus, we have over 100 option orders under the new arrangement.
THANKS>

We have only about 50 sticks of memory on hand for upgrades. I just ordered a few hundred more and they should be in asap.
I only said that so that I was covered in a worst case.

I should have gotten it while it was still available

... I'll try tomorrow cause I just got a Celeron 1.7 for like 150$/setup but for 1$ setup I might as well switch over to the Xeon and cancel the old one

iepl just curious do you install your own cPanel? If not, what do you run off your boxes as I noticed that it is plain RH you are asking for

Just curious

Jun 23 2003, 06:44 PM
No, I dont' install cpanel, for that matter, I don't install any of the panels as I run a an advertising firm, not a web hosting business.
So security is my #1 concern, that means anything other than ssh and apache are all turned off with strict firewall in place. Agencies at Madison Ave wont' be too impressed to see their banner or pop creative defaced.
If anyone tell you your box is secure, it's a lie! 100% lie.

Ordered my 512 ram yesterday for upgrade, at Midnight they installed it.
Funny they didnt send me a e-mail about it being done, freaked me out when I woke up and saw my server had rebooted, but when I saw the RAM installed I was happy.
Thanks guys!

I assume from what I can read that memory upgrades have $1 setups too... is that correcT?

log into your members area and look. If the RAM you need says $1 setup then it is.

I think that memory that HS ordered is shady...
I just got a P4 2.0ghz box that is supposed to have 1GB of memory, but is showing 768MB.
TT has been filed of course, just thought I'd mention it so other people could be on the lookout for a potential problem.
