ive been trying to get favicons to work on our server but i must be missing something. i followed the instructions at
http://www.yelsew.com/apache-favicon.html
but it still doesnt work. any ideas people ? any help greatfully received.

but favicons onlt apear once you have added the site to you favorites ...

lol this i know. it still didnt work and i was wondering if anyone had any insights into anything required on the server side. this being the general comments area of the plesk forum.

Noi nothing serverside but I saw something somewhere about being able to specefy the path of the faviicon,

you can put that in the head section of your pages, however by default it should already work, it worked on my server.

Yes but I've seen quite a few different instructions saying how to do it !
Some sites just say put the icone in the root directory and call it faviicon but others say that you can't use a bmp renamed as .ico but with the link you gave it seems to work ...

if u made an icon and saved it as favicon.ico and put it in the root directory of ur site (httpdocs) then it should work withou having to specify it in the head section.

I just got this working last night and you need a program that actually makes it an .ico file, just renaming a bmp will not work...

That's correct shortfork, you cannot just rename it to .ico, you have to use an icon editor to make the icon itself. Microangelo is a good one.
