I have cpanel of course, so which one would I want ( running 4.3.1 right now) and after that how would I update my current version (install)

Thanks.

Cpanel should update php for you. Use the sysup script, and it should do it automagicly. And remember it may take DarkOrd a week or so to update to the new version, but it will soon enough.

No cpanel does not update php automatically for you via sysup, you need to download and run buildapache when the time comes. If you keep posted to the cpanel forums, its usually anounced there when the upgrade is released.

I haven't manually compiled php in a while now, and my notes are gone with my fried hard drive ( NOTE: ALWAYS keep notes on paper! ) but im sure someone can help you out.. its fairly straight forward.

Sorry, my mistake.. mine was upgraded when I did the easyapache too , but either way DarkOrb makes it quite simple to upgrade. So just run the easyapache script in /scripts when they announce the new release.

I have compiled php on cpanel machines a number of times also, its quite simple. Just use the same configure line you have now and it will go very easy.

Could you be more specific on this. Please understand each day is a new learning day when it comes to cpanel for me.

when they announce the new release.

Where would this be announced at? Here, what section?

I appreciate all your answer and help, Thank you.

The releases of php are ussually announced on cpanel.net's forums. also at the very top of the news in the whm if tells if your php is the latest.

The easyapache script gets run from the command prompt, so you would log in using ssh and run the command..

/scripts/easyapache

then follow the prompts and select which options you want.
