I have justed changed the IP address of one of my domains on my cobalt. However, when I go to the domain it shows its trying to connect to the old ip.
any ideas?

Normally, it takes 24-48 hours for all the DNS servers world-wide to catch up with the change. This is known as DNS Propogation time.
