I am trying to FTP to a Windows machine at my house from a dedicated server via SSH. I know that I can connect out but I just cant connect to the box at my house.

The Windows machine is behind a Linksys router. I have opend port 21. I can use CuteFTP and it finds it just fine, just not via SSH. The Windows box has BulletProof as the FTP server and I am using ncftpput from SSH.

I have added Serv-U to the arsenal but still can't get a connection established to the Windows machine.

I am using the Windows box's IP to connect to also.

Anyone know what might be my error???

I am not sure if I understood you correctly.

It sounded like you are trying to access a personal computer at home via FTP from a dedicated box outside of your home network via the IP your home network assigned to your personal computer?

If I understood you correctly this is what you need to do:

FTP to the IP address your ISP assigned your home network.

You can get this by logging into your router:
http://192.168.1.1/
Clicking on Status.
Your WAN IP address is the one you are looking for.

You will also need to click on advanced
Then click DMZ host.
Enter the IP your router assigned to your personal computer here.

Or

you could click on forwarding and set port 21 to forward to your personal computers IP address assigned by your router.

Good answer Michael.

I agree, what I would try would be to open the SSL port 21 by loging into the Linksys router and click the advanced tab and add port 21.

Very similar to if you have ever tryed to serve HTTP pages from your cable modem through a Linksys router. Just set up port 80 to forward to an IP on your local sub net, then bind that IP to your machine.
