has anyone here installed Majordomo on a CPanel box? Are there any security reasons not to do this? I really despise Mailman very much and would like to offer Majordomo mailing lists or at least run one or two for my own domains. Any comments?

Just wondering if anyone had a chance to do this? I really would like to set up majordomo and I don't mind manually configuring it since it will only be for my own domains. Any input on issues to be aware of would be appreciated.

Majordomo? Are you insane? Use the built in Mailman. Although its not the latest version it still works 100% better then domo. After the loop iv seen Majordomo get into on Ensim i wouldnt install it on Cpanel if you paid me.

I DESPISE MailMan. It is a horrid program and the developers are the WORST people in the world to work with. Their application is designed only to work as a discussion list and when I asked them directly how to set it up as a news list they said "We never even thought about that. Why would anyone want a list only as a news list?" Majordomo is by faw way easier to work with. You can sonfigure it to do exactly what you want. You don't have to have some horrid web interface that is very hard at best to make fit the look and feel of your site. Bottom line is that MailMan is a piece of junk software. It is not programmed to be used except exactly as the programmers force you to use it. I dont want someone else telling me how to run my server or my web sites. I hate the AOLish interfaces all over the place. Just give me simple email commands like "subscribe" and "unsubscribe". I guess thats just too dificult for some folks.
Anyway my question goes on unanswered. Can anyone help me with setting up Majordomo on a CPanel box please?

It doesn't integrate into CPanel. If that's okay with you, then go ahead and install it following the standard instructions. You will be required to setup each domain manually... But, yes, it works.

Lighthouse have you actually done this install? I have followed the steps in the INSTALL file and it does nto seem to be working at all... Setting up lists manually will not be an issue for me so this install you speak of should be OK for me if I can get it to run.
Thanks,

do this as root:
CODE
cd /tmp
wget [url]ftp://ftp.rpmfind.net/linux/contrib/libc6/i386/majordomo-1.94.4-7.i386.rpm[/url]
rpm -Uvh majordomo-1.94.4-7.i386.rpm
If has any failed dependencies, download those packages too.
