Hey folks... I just got CPanel a dedicated server from RS a few minutes ago. I was using CPanel in a Virtual Server as a reseller (still am until I get everything moved) and this is my first adventure in owning the whole box. I am sure I will do fine but on first blush I am a bit overwhelmed. In loading the server with the http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2086 format for the first time I get two set ups that I think I need to run. One is a wizard in WHM itself an the other is a pop up. I am not sure exactly what to do with either. Let me start with asking a few basic questions.

1) Which of these two wizards should I run first or does it matter?

2) In the WHM Wizard I assume it is best to leave the Default Home Directory and the Home Directory Prefix at the default values. Is this correct?

3) In the WHM Wizard do I leave the hostname at the *****.rackshack.net value? I am not sure what this parameter does. Can someone give me a brief exlanation as to how it fits in the picture?

4) There are quite a few parameters (Minimum Uid: through AIM Password:) that do not have default values listed. I need some input as to what each of these do and an example of how to set them.


OK I know thats a lot of information requested, I just want to make sure that I do this right the first time rather than have to start all over later! BTW If anyone has the name of a VERY good primer on this whole subject, I have no objection what-so-ever to reading up on all of this on my own.
