Was hoping someone could tell me what the following directories are for within a virtual account. Plesk sets these up by default, and there's no reference to them in the documentation:
/bin
/conf
/pd
Also, I have a customer who needs to put some files outside of his web (httpdocs) directory, but the permissions won't allow him to make a directory off the 'home' directory. Any thoughts here?
Thanks.

pd is for storing info about password protected dirs. Try setting one up in Plesk than look inside...
conf is for storing individual httpd config files for the domain in question
bin (I'm guessing here) is for allowing users to acces some executables if you give them shell access.
This explanations are just from my personal observations, not to be taken as the complete info...
