Unless I have missed something obvious - how can I set up DNS without hosting web or email on my server?

I need to control an account on another server, but using my nameservers.

Can you explain to me your situation in greater detail? What do you mean by control? I'd be glad to help you with this..

Hi,

I have an account which is hosted on another server ( I can't host it as it needs asp.net) - I prefer to use my own nameservers.

So how can I set up my server so that it is running the DNS for both email and hosting on another server?

Do I just set up an account without hosting and email - but then I need to remove the ability for the server to know anything about the account as far as the email is concerned, otherwise mail sent from my server to this external account will loop.

So can I manually add the DNS anywhere?

(Sorry if I have not explained it properly icon_smile.gif )

well you could always ask the host to create 2 nameservers for you.. ns3.yourdomain.com and ns4.yourdomain.com. I believe that this would work, just point the domain to ns3/ns4, not the ones on your box. This is just an idea though icon_smile.gif

I was just thinking (dangerous!!) I could always host the email, and redirect the hosting to the other IP.

Any problems in doing this, that anyone can see?
