what to change in exim.conf so that mail doesnt set in the queue forever in a day?
aussie
Its a problem that many are having. I have over 400 in the queue and others are 1000 - 2000 in the queue. Go into WHM and force a delivery for now.

Tried that, some get delivered some dont, a lot of messages to sift through to find out what all is wrong. I been watching topics over at cpanel's forums and a topic I had made, I had no idea the kinda of problems involved. mad.gif

Then you should inspect the msg in /var/spool/exim/input and look at those messages. Look at the msgs ending in the letter -H. Look at the headers. Its possible that alot of those msgs are from Invalid users. What i do when i get sick of them is rm -f *.

You know, I have to assume that Ensim had the same issues since a lot of the queue is bad domains, etc. I guess its just since we can so easily see what is in the queue that makes it disconcerting since I never looked to see what was waiting to be delivered.

lots of stuff, mostly say this 059 Subject: Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender. junk mostly
aussie
Returning msg to sender, probably a bunch of spam that cannot be returned anyway. Just remove them all then run a cleanup of the exim db using the crons i posted, HOW TO CLEANUP THE EXIM MESSAGE QUEUE post.

Allot of time mail will get locked in the queue and wont send even when doing it on WHM.

If this is the case for anyone you can run this command in SSH to force all email to be sent.

/usr/sbin/exim -qf&

Works for me.

I am having the exact same issue, and there are very few sites on the server. I shudder to think what this is going to be like when I hit it with production.

Also, your command seems to do nothing on my box.

And even more weirdness, I had a number of valid e-mails in the queue and clicking on deliver all now, resulted in zero delivered, but clicking on individual messages results in the valid ones getting delivered.

Perhaps Ensim was not as bad as I first thought. I still like all the extra things I can do with cPanel, adn I am not going to switch back to Ensim, but, boy, some things do not seem well thought out.

I have very few sites as well, about 10. I first came accross this problem a few days ago when email to one of the domains on my box were just sitting there. They would not deliver no matter what i did untill I used that command in SSH.

I have read a ton of posts on the forums at cpanel and this seems to be a very big issue. The only fixes I see are temp ones which include reverting to an older version of exim which will then be upgraded back to the new on when ur system updates.

I sure hope they get this fixed soon as I too worry about this in a production enviroment.
