I keep getting this wonderful error message when I try to log into my server:

Content-type: text/plain

The Cpanel Key Server said returned 500 Request Denied - No license entry found for your machine (64.246.16.45)!

X-DES-KEY: generate error
Invalid Lisc File
----------
The RS staff reloaded my server, but the error message is still there. Any ideas??

Try running the following command (in shell) :

/usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
This should do the trick ( if the IP has a valid license ).

If it still won't work, contact RS that they verify with DarkOrb (authors of CPanel) if your IP has a valid license.

yeah, contact RS support. somehow your ip address didnt make it into the cpanel database of valid IP addresses.

That does deserve a icon_sad.gif . I have been waiting for Support to resolve the issue. The reloaded my system, but to no avail. It appears that they need to put some sort of license on my server.

i would give the support department a call. A license issue is fairly simple to fix, (add your ip to the database) and it shouldnt take this long for them to get it fixed for you.

I called support this morning and they are closed until Monday. icon_sad.gif

Wow!

I see this thread is dated 4/2003 and today is 10/2004 and I'm having this exact same problem.

I did follow this link to verify your cPanel IP address and found that my ip

is not licensed

I wanted to add that I've already submitted a trouble ticket. And while I was amazed at how fast I was able to order this server online and "access" it right away, I'm disappointed in the fact that I'm hung up on this problem that EV1 is already aware of. You'd just think they'd have this problem taken care of by now, or at least have a resolution posted. Here I thought I could get some work done tonight, but am hung up on this problem.

I went to the EV1 Servers Support Page and clicked on the chat with tech support for help. And they say I have to wait for customer service tomorrow morning. What gets me, is that this problem is document right here in their forums back on 4/2003. Yet, here I am over a year and a half later, having the exact same problem. What the heck ever happened to being proactive? You know a little customer service goes a long way.

STILL DOWN AND OUT HERE.

GLAD TO SEE THEY HAVE A TOP NOTCH CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT--- NOT!!!

I'M JUST GLAD THAT THIS SERVER WAS JUST GOING TO BE FOR PERSONAL USE.

AFTER SEEING WHAT I SEE NOW, I WOULD NEVER MOVE MY MISSION CRITICAL SERVER OVER TO EV1.

I THOUGHT THEY WERE IN THE BUSINESS OF SETTING UP SERVERS, YET THEY CANT EVEN GET A SINGLE SERVER UP A RUNNING, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD IT LISTED AS AVAILABLE AND SET ME UP WITH A SERVER THAT DOESNT WORK.

HOW THE HECK DO THEY STAY IN BUSINESS?

Talking in call caps is the equivalent of screaming and is very rude...As for your outage have you tried to get onto live chat and talk with a customer service rep? I have had this happen before and they can usually fix it in about 5-10 minutes.
JamminJim
Yes, I know what all CAPS mean. Just goes to show you how upset I was.

Sorry. :o

But it just made me upset to see this problem documented way back in April of '04.

But to answer my own question of how they stay in business.

It's through people like Will in Customer Service that stuck with a difficult situation and a very ALL CAPS customer, to get the job done.

Thanks again Will for sticking with me to get this problem resolved.

One can only hope that you get a small residual from my monthly revenues, as you single handly saved a customer.

Good Job!

The prolem is ev1 has to register every single cpanel server with cpanel itself. The license is setup to expire after a set amount of time. Unfortunatly sometimes the license do not get noticed and will actually expire while a user still has the server.

I agree they could use a better accounting service though to help this from happening again. I know recently they have been upgrading a lot of their software, hopefully this can be avoided again.

You'd just think they'd have this problem solved by now. Especially on new server deployments. This was my first server with EV1. I have another server with another hosting company, but thought I'd check out EV1.

I do like the EV1 interfaces I've seen so far. While I like to do a lot at the root level, I'd like to be able to hand off a server to other people, who may be more comfortable using the cPanel interface.

But koodles for Will for sticking with me. Because as you noticed....

I was in ALL CAPS MODE. rolleyes.gif But I'm feelin much better now. cool.gif
