I was reading in the Connectivity Thread

QUOTE
There was a fundamental network change that we made in our switches to curb the impact from any comprimised (hacked) servers. This change limited each port to 10 Full from 100 Full. In testing before implementation, there was success between Raqs, Durons, and P IIIs, each type of box running a different network card.

Having recently become involve with Rackshack that is a ten fold decrease in speed at which the server is connected. So if I happen to get 10-15 connections with DSL/Cable/T1 at once what happens?

RackShack could still do another 10 fold decrease and main 300 gb month avaible Bandwidth.

I am concerned that I really don't know how slow they will go.

but if you read the whole post again, you'll notice that they've bumped it back up to 100Mb/s icon_razz.gif

after reading the post in question i came away with the impression that the speed change was only for testing purposes. there are no plans to change the post speed that i know of and i would be very suprised to see this happen.

A 10 Full is what most other hosting companies give their servers anyway. It's a 10x decrease in the pipe, but few sites ever burst over 8Mb/s anyway.

Where does a 100Mbit NIC top out at anyways? I know its nowhere near 100Mbit.. maybe 30-50? My 10Mbit NIC tops out at home around 7-8Mbit.
