Full Version: Ensim functionality without Ensim?

I am in the process of migrating my server from FreeBSD to a RackShack box running RedHat 7.2 with Ensim, but have taken a serious dislike to the difficulties Ensim causes in keeping software up to date. Is it possible to create name and IP based virtual servers in raw RedHat 8, with the same functionality as the Ensim ones? Otherwise, is there a better alternative to Ensim (even if you have to pay for it)?

Thanks!

All can be done by hand on plain redhat but you have to be much more experienced. Ensim is good but you have to be careful when upgrading software ... just don't upgrade what ensim has modified.

Alternative: Cpanel

Hey,

Alot of what can be done in Ensim can be done in Webmin or even editing some basic text files or even using other CPs such as webCP.

I'm attempted to do a similar thing, thus why I posted this thread: -

It appears to be the only thing that I haven't been able to do easily WITHOUT ensim.

I had a play with WebCP recently actually and wasn't overly impressed. It still needs a lot of work from what I could see and a bit of personal PHP hacking to get it doing the things I'd need it to do if I were hosting clients.
