These are pre-built cages for colocation customers that are current being utilized to secure inbound shipments of new servers.....

Are they emty yet? I would like to someday be leasing a full rack. icon_biggrin.gif

Hello MOUSE!
did you know approx how much machines are currently
connectet at rackshack? Now they open a new DC, with a lot of space for new and more machines, its clear ....
rackshack becomes bigger and bigger (of course, because they are the best company around )
BUT did you think, they can handle still all the traffic ?
from all her customers?,
i dont know howe they are connected
and which routers RS use, (im sure, just the best stuff)
but since the the most recent , friday and (now currently) sunday morning GMT
outage im not further sure about.

regards ... Manfred
for me RS, is still the best Company !!!

Bonso, in the year I've been a customer there has been a steady trend of them bringing in new gigE's. 1 year ago (if memory serves me correctly) they had 5 and the OC3 and DS3. Now they have 11 plus the OC3 and DS3. So they've added 600 gigabits of connectivity in just the past year, that's nuts (most colo companies you'll find might have a few OC3's, with some smaller T3's or similar). They still have a 5th(!!) Verio gigE coming in a few months. I wouldn't worry, as their capacity needs grow so does their backbone capacity.

I think it's well over 5,000 servers, and probably close to 10,000. HeadSurfer was running an "OK 10K" promotion to get the number over 10,000 servers. That promotion ended a while ago, so I think it's safe to say there are over 10,000 servers there.
If you think they can handle the traffic, look at their network graphs and judge for yourself. IMHO, they can.
