Are there any known issues with the XP1700 overheating and crashing like the older AMD boxes Rackshack had around a year ago?

We did not experience as many problems with these as we did with some of our other product lines, do you have one now that is currently experiencing an issue?

No. But considering buying one out of the Bargain Basement.. I *really* want a celeron 1.3 but there hasn't been any.

I don't know if this is related to overheating but I am having some troubles with a XP 1700+ I purchased recently from Bargain Basement.

Everything has been ok for a while but in the last 15 days the average uptime dropped drastically to about 1 day, this server is part of a webcluster made by 5 servers in total (the other 4 are intel), every server has the same software installed on it and works approximately at the same load but the other clusters have great uptime while this one crashes randomly.

I think it must be a hardware issue, but what can I do? I already submitted a TT and I'm still waiting for an answer.

Thanks

you'd probably have better luck calling them.. I just purchased one out of the bargain basement and have been trying to crash it all day. I actually got the server load up to over 1000.. Not sure if thats an error in uptime.. But i was able to get it that high

I had one of their XP 1700/1900's (cant remember the number) but it was running at 1.2 Ghz and had a gig of ram. I had constant problems with kernel panics, crashes, programs refusing to start, programs stating they started but really didn't, and other general mayhem. I couldn't keep the thing up for more than a day.
If they are reselling those I pity the person who bought mine.

Paul, did they replace your box with a working one?
Paul
When I had it I didn't request a new box (probably should have) but RS did mess around with the kernel and swap space.

I don't know what happened to the box after I canceled it. Nothing shows up at the IP that it had, but that doesn't say much. It very well could be running under a different IP, but could also be in the dumpster out back.
