I haven't been checking RS Talk for some time, but suddenly a few days ago, I started receiving an email for every new thread started in every Forum I am subscribed to.

I went into the settings, but there appears to be no way for me to change this (that I can see). There is an option to be notified by email when people reply to a thread I've posted in, but nothing about threads in forums I'm subscribed to.

I don't want to get all of these emails. How can I turn this off?

Are you sure? . Email the mods if its the case. I don't think so though

If you are subscribed, its on the main page of the User CP. Under the category "Subscribed Forums".

Click your User CP button, scroll down to 'Subscribed Threads" and unsubscribe from them.

Next time you post, before you click the submit button, uncheck the box for:
Email Notification: emails sent to you whenever someone replies. Only registered users are eligible.
and you wont subscribe in the first place

I appreciate all the help and advice, but perhaps I'm not being clear. Let me try again.

I _want_ to be subscribed to various _forums_ so that when I log into RS Talk, I can go to my User CP and see only the forums I care about (for example, I don't have an Ensim box, so I don't subscribe to those).

I _want_ to get an email notification when someone posts a reply to a thread that I either started or posted to.

I _do_not_want_ to get an email notification that there is a brand new thread in a forum I'm subscribed to.

This is exactly how it used to work for over a year (since I signed on to RS Talk) up until about 1 month ago. Suddenly, without me making _any_ changes to my account here, I started receiving email notifications for new threads in subscribed forums. I do not want this. I want to turn this off. There does not seem to be a way to do so, though.

I hope that helps clear things up. If it turns out that there really isn't a way to have it set up the way I described above, then so be it, but I figure it's worth persisting just in case I've overlooked something or an admin can take care of it for me.

Alright, I think I understand. I remember Patrick saying he had to add some mod. This is so that people that subscribe to the network status forum can get an email every time there is a new thread. There probably isn't a way to turn it off for all forums short of uninstalling it.

Patrick Installed a hack that allowed anyone subscribed to the Network Status forum to recieve email updates, this in turn enabled it for the entire forum, your only option is to unsubscribe to the forums if you dont want to be emailed as far as I know.. Mouse

On the same subject: Is there a way to receive PMs instead of emails about subscribed thread updates?

I have the exact opposite issue. I subscribed to a couple of forums (HowTo's, etc) because I wanted to get emailed every time a new thread was created. I'm not getting emailed though, any way I can turn this on?
