switch to rpm...then it won't touch your php....

and anyway..you will need to be rpm by 6.0....as it looks like plesk is not going to offer standard for redhat in 6.0...

I have a question about this, I just bought the server I am on yesterday. Has 7.2 and PSA 5.04 would this have the rpm version or will it be standard and what is the easiest way to tell which it is?
NUTNDUN
Ok nm, I just clicked ur link. Thanks for the how-to icon_biggrin.gif

I only have my sites on the sevrer now as it is with no files uploaded yet so I guess now would be the time to do it.

It's a long story LOL

1) We had 2.0 Standard from RS
2) We paid Plesk to upgrade PSA to 5.0 AND switch to rpm
3) We were happy bunnies icon_wink.gif
4) HDD failure and multiple I/O errors
5) RS replace and restore back to PSA 2
6) We uninstalled PSA2 but couldn't be bothered at the time to install all of the services so we installed PSA 5 standard
7) Happy again but I may just pay Plesk to upgrade when 6 comes out.

looks like you had download issues..

you tried to download : psa5.0.5...i586.rpm.tar.gz'
not the full filename....remember the forum shorthens urls...

and the last command your server actulaly acted on was the psa stopall...so yes..your services are down

restart psa...put the commands in one line at a time....that was not a script to be run at one shot. And make sure you don't get errors..if you do...stop...find the error reason..fix it..and continue.

/etc/rc.d/init.d/psa restart

/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart

/etc/rc.d/init.d/qmail restart

to name a few of them..
you may also need to restart xinetd if your ftp isn't running.

if everything was working before the upgrade..I would downgrade back to the version you had before. Then make sure you applied the correct upgrade for the server you had.

You did the redhat7.3 rpm patch....I hope you had a redhat7.3 rpm install of plesk 5.0.*?

If you did..and the patch generated those errors....you would need someone to login to work on your box...I would suggest entering a TT with plesk. As that is well beyond anything I can talk you through in the forums.
ajthegreat
Thanks for the reply
What is a TT with plesk?

TT = Trouble Ticket ....plesk.com's support would be able to login and look at your server. If this is your own plesk key, then you would have recieved some period of support with it...how much depends on the terms of your contract with them.

but in anycase...this is not something I am going to be able to talk you through in a forum.

I don't have a plesk liscense, just the one that came with the new server I got a couple of days ago. I see from your sig line that you do admin, I assume I could hire you to do the fix?

just a thought...try this::

/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd stop
/etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld stop
killall -9 mysqld
kilall -9 mysql
/etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld start
/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start

it just might clear up the msyql issue....if not..you have bigger problems...but if it is this..then you are in luck.

of course ...restart psa afterwards...

Yes thanks nighthawk.

It was my mistake, very silly of me i just cut and pasted into my root but the url was incorrect, it was not the full url.
(perhaps you should explain this for future newbees)

I went to plesk.com download page and found the full download url and corrected the commands i entered.

After taking advice from you i ran the commands one line at a time, and one by one.

The upgrade took approx 5 mins

I now have my server up and running with plesk 5.5 redhat 7.3

Ps. my next project installing plesks server back up files, that should be fun.

pps. would you explain each one of these will do?

/etc/rc.d/init.d/psa restart

what does /etc do?
what does /rc.d do?
what does /init.d do ?

i get the last one hurray:D
ajthegreat
Thanks for the replies guys
I got a response from support that the MySQL admin password had to be changed and then everything worked fine.

Good deal....glad to hear it. Although wierd that error message didn't say anything about access denied for user admin (which is what I would normallly expect to see in that situtaion).
