How do I get rid of plesk.rackshack.net? It's everywhere, is there a simple solution to changing it to another domain? Does the new domain have to be hosted on the Plesk server?

Thanks

You may also want to change qmail's servername.

Edit the file /var/qmail/control/me and change to mail.yourdomain.com or whatever.

Be careful though, the qmail servername should reflect the same domain listed in the PTR record for your server's IP to guarantee mail delivery to all ISP's. Without a valid reverse DNS for the qmail servername, many ISP's won't accept the server's mail.

actually..there is another step....

try this thread...

http://forum.rackshack.net/showthread.php?...hlight=hostname

I posted a simple step by step a few posts down in that one

That will get through the hostname....then your next step (actually should have been your first) is security....

Well I successfully changed it in Webmin before your first reply in:

Webmin > Networking > Network Configuration > DNS client (changed hostname and added a second IP to the DNS servers thing)

Webmin > Networking > Network Configuration > Host Addresses (changed the default IP to my new hostname)

Everything appears to be working perfectly with DNS ... icon_smile.gif

I do hope you ran the plesk reconfigurator....becuase if you skip that step..plesk will be confused..and that is not good.

Yep sorry - forgot to mention that - I ran the reconfigurator as soon as I changed the hostname. rolleyes.gif
