Full Version: A little SSL help needed
The Planet Forums > Control Panels > Plesk

We have a site that has been hosted for quite a while on a virtual setup. The user is about to get an SSL certificate and we have already gained the IP required.

Before the CSR can be requested the site must be allocated on the IP. However I cannot see anywhere within the plesk control panel to convert the virtual site to an IP hosted one.

Anyone have any clue of an easy way to enable this without taking the users site down, backing it up, deleting it, creating a new IP based site and restoring the 4GB of content and fairly big database ?

Thanks for any light thrown in my direction.

Log into your Plesk Server and press HOSTING (physical hosting will be checked), press NEXT on the next screen you will see

Virtual Host Type: Name-Based (ip: xxx.xxx.xxx.xx1
IP-Based

IP Address: -- Name-based --xxx.xxx.xxx.xx2

Check IP-Based and pick yjr IP you want it hosted on. After you have done this make sure you change your dns to reflect the new IP. Also, make sure you leave webmail.domain.com on the IP for your named based hosting (if you use it) so that it will work.

I'd seen that option but the new IP was never available.

After some quick digging when awake, I found you have to manually add the IP to the server in the "IP Alias" section to etho of the SERVER main panel.

Nearly done.

Thanks for the tip and nudge.
