hi all,
how possible is upgrading from plesk 2.5.5 to plesk 5.0 ?
is there any script that does that? well as everybody knows the 2.5.5 is not supported any more and we surely need some updates for servers plesk use in a handy way or in a way that you would ensure that it would update safely.

is it possible to upgrade from 2.5.5 to 5.0? or i should delete the 2.5.5 and install the 5.0 ?

any sugggestion would be greatly appreciated.

please don't forget that the server is a busy server and solutions should be accurate in terms of ( nothing bad might happen)

thanks:)

Hi there !!

try forums.plesk.com
NightHawk
Upgrading from 2.5 to 5.0 is fairly simple....and I actually recommend switching to the rpm install when you do...as plesk won't be supporting the standard install in 6.0 for redhat....so go purchase a plesk key...do a standard install.. (don't forget to make backups)...and restore the sites....it is basically that simple cool.gif

so i need to purchase the key first .. how much does it cost?

is there any discounts or something ... what did rackshack do about this case?

thanks
Rich2k
Rackshack no longer support Plesk.

Plesk did do a deal about this time offering large discounts for 'unsupported' key upgrades but unfortunately that has since expired and it's a standard upgrade cost (details at plesk.com)
Jonathan
I believe Plesk will still do you a discount to upgrade. Post a message on the Plesk forums as I can't find the thread I read this on.

well ..

am afraid to pay the money and after a while they will say you can't upgrade to 6.0 .. or any thing else ...

if rackshack doesn't support plesk any more .. then what does it support? ensim?

if i upgraded to plesk 5 .. then i won't get any kind of help from rakchsakc and they might say that i'm the one who upgraded and now am on my own ..( they do help sometimes if tehre is a software problem)...

ok .. i wish if there is a way to change to cpanel .. i've heard that it is much better and it upgrades it self by its own!

suggestions?

actually...when you get a plesk licensce for yourself...it will come with a SUS ... which is a one year subscription to all upgrades (including 6.0)...then you just renew that SUS every year (25% of the retail price of a new key)....and you will always be able to upgrade your plesk keys cool.gif

As for cpanel upgrading itself..that is both good and bad.....I have a very good friend that runs cpanel...and he calls me frequently extremly upset by some of the updates that cpanel does to his box.

Whatever you select, Plesk or Cpanel, your still in the same boat... RS will not provide support for the software icon_wink.gif

looks like upgrading plesk is much safer and cheaper than cpnael loooool:D

i've heard that if somebody hacks cpanels site and replaces the upgrade with a bad copy ( as happened to open ssh) all automatic upgraded cpanels would be infected:)

thanks everybody
