Hi peeps.

I've been trawling the forum for about 2 months now and thanks to people like mouse, shortfork, richy and others I feel that we're all pretty friendly folks and the community within the forum is good. What I find slightly annoying is when I try to see peoples profiles you guys are not very forthcoming with info. It'd be nice to know abit more about yall. Am I alone in this feeling?

Also I plan on setting up a small site with patches and instructions for setting up the LWB servers. So I'd appreciate input on this one, or maybe someone else'll beat me to it?
I just feel that in the past week more and more 'newbies' are asking the same old questions time and time again without doing as most of us have, and trawl the forum.

(BTW I know my profile needs updated, but I'm in a serious stage of transition this week. more info will be added next week once the server is live 100%.)

anyhow, nice to meet you all, remember to keep the community spirit and help all those not as lucky as ourselves.

Boomer,

I try to "lay low" due to probably an over active paranoia towards hacking and a probably inept attempt at not letting the hackers who undoubtedly frequent this board know my server identity...

That said.... I "leak" enough info from time to time without thinking about it to make it pretty easy to find my main site and thereby my other sites.. and my "secret" identity...

*That* said... I usually don't do a "bio" thing but I will say that I'm a semi-retired 50 year old, involved with an aviation based motorsport as a writer/photographer.. and one time television commentary appearance on a pilot for a series that has yet to be bought... (pilot aired but series seems to have died on the vine)

I also do web design on the side for several aviation based entities.

Basically a "ix" newbie who tries to stay away from command line as much as possible as it seems to twart my creativity..

There.. that's all ya get for now cool.gif

Y'all have a nice birthday now "old man"!

umm bout time i sed something then. happy birthday james, i hope you have an excellent time icon_smile.gif OK im 20 nearly 21, im a student doing a degree in multimedia systems design in the UK. i at the moment have stopped doing normal type work to contentrate on web based ventures. Before this i have worked in just about everything going from fruit and veg shops to computer shops to fish n chip shops. my crowning glory was my spell with du pont heading a research project into nylon polymerisation at the age of 17 (swung that one nicely:) touch of nepotism). im heading towards oracle accreditation and maybe mcse as well if i find the time. basicly ive decided i need to get rich to buy a tvr . fo you americans its a rather nice make of british car www.tvr.co.uk icon_smile.gif thats prolly enough non descript information for now. that and im currently learning red hat lol quite quickly

Interesting bit of useless information - did you know that TVR is short for "Trevor"? The guy who runs the company is called Trevor, and he called the car the TVR because "you can 'ardly call a car a Trevor".

I agree. I don't think I'd be seen dead in a car called "Trevor" no matter how sporty it is :-]

Hey! Another aviation nut!

I'm involved in aviation as a way of spending far too much of my money. I just finished my multi-engine rating. It was a lot of fun, but to quote Blackadder, I now feel like a duck. Whichever way I look, there is a great big bill in front of me!
richy
even if it was the fastest production car on the planet? their speed 12 8 ltr v12 with 800 bhp and 760 ftlbs torque for a measly 188k GBP icon_smile.gif. but yeah we dont mention the trevor thing, or the whole built in a shed in blackpool out of fibreglass and jet engines thing .

and james do we get pics of your 21st party?? enquiring minds wanna know lol

Happy B-Day James, sorry to hear it was so bland.. I cant say much, I had the FLU on my 21rst B-Day so I didnt get to celebrate for 4 days..

hmmmm, bio, never done a bio before.. 30, Network Engineer and running a hosting company for 3 years, mostly NT stuff, new to the NIX world so started classes for LPI certification, taking the CCNA test in a month. Otherwise just throwing together boring websites, helping my fiancee with her studies ( GIS for Marine Science ) and looking forward to moving from TN back home to FL sometime in the new year..

I have to agree, I would not drive anything called a "Trevor", shortness, post a link to the episode online, maybe it will become a online cult classic.. heeheehee, stranger things have happened..
