For the past hr. my server keeps going down then back up and running then back down, I can't log into the rackshack chat, says no proxies? I have submitted a trouble ticket but no response yet.

Looks like a network issue. Run a traceroute from your PC to know where the problem lies; this doesn't necessary need to be at RS, but can be at your ISP or some peering point as well.
Also, try to SSH from another server and 99% chance that will work fine.

Yes, I just submitted a trouble ticket for the same problem. One minute things are fine and then the next I receive a connection error (#54). I suspect there is a router somewhere that's either dropping packets or bouncing up and down.

Actually there's no need at all to submit a ticket for that. Chances that the problem is at RS' side are like 20%. Start with a traceroute, and draw your conclusions. If your conclusion is that things go wrong at RS, then open a ticket, but not earlier as then there's nothing that can indicate that they are responsable for assisting you.

What I want to make clear is that RS is delivering a great service at a bottom price. When everybody starts to submit tickets for every possible problem, I wonder how long the prices will stay that low, as staff does need to be paid...

I'm getting the same. SSH connections keep dropping out becasue of it and I'm starting to get complaints from some customers about not being to receive e-mail icon_sad.gif

While I can appreciate your obvious enthusiasm for RackShack and their service, your implication that those of us who submit trouble tickets do so for frivolous reasons is both unwarranted and unnecessary.

For your information, and not that it's a damn bit of your business, the last trouble ticket that I submitted to RackShack prior to today was in April of 2002. Just to help you with your math, that's approximately 9 months ago. I do not submit trouble tickets to RackShack for "every little problem." I only do so when there is an obvious issue at hand.

I would think that the fact this is a problem being experienced by more than one individual is indicitive of an issue with the network either at RackShack or near RackShack.

In the future, unless you have something positive to contribute to the discussion at hand, I would ask that you keep your comments to yourself.

Thank you.
