right now on thursday, the 23rd of November we bought a WhiteBox Unix Server with AMD 1Ghz 512MB RAM for hosting several client domains and start reselling offers. Allready the connect thrue telnet was as slow that I measured the speed via a ping and tracert:

We installed some sample servers/domains and testet the speed of a forum based on php and mysql. The internal mysql speed was as exceptet, but every connection thrue the net (www, ftp, telnet, ...) is too slow to use. It was not possible to copy huge mass of files via ftp without loosing connections on different computers. With this speed it is not possible for us to use the server. Also we saw different discussion on your support board, but the was no solution and the statistics of several users shows a slowdown of speed in the last 4 weeks.

We are looking forward in short solving the above mentioned problems and expecting a fast answer about the known problems and their solutions.

Another point is:
We wanted to ask for getting 3 more IP-Numbers for setupping a well configured DNS Service and a safely Connection administrating the server and anonymous FTP for the following system:

Yes, german times to get pings from us-servers are a little bit higher, but the last times are not from germany - that is the ev1-net.

the ftp has errors and a speed of 2-3 kb and the website the same. :-(

Just a quick comment on what you are noticing.

Due to the impending migration and consolidation of our network and sites (facilities), there are currently two extra hops inside our network. This should go away by December 15, when we expect to have the migration complete.

These two extra hops, achieved through a tunnel, allow us to run two sites almost as if they were one network.

At this time, no matter how your pings come to Rackshack (only on the new servers), we are sending that traffic out through Time Warner.

I hope this clarifys what you are seeing.

It is somewhat strange, as I should have the same times when transiting the tunnel. However, I am consistently getting 10 to 20 ms on those hops. Interesting to say the least.

I'll ask out CTO to take a look at this thread.

Wow... I thoerized in another thread that there were extra hops due to the impending move. Thanks for confirming that.
