I just order the $19 Urchin package, but I was wondering how many months of logs will Urchin process. Do I have to insert codes into my pages to get them tracked?

Thanks.

I believe you insert a small one pixel gif into each page that requires tracking.

No, no gif to be inserted. Urchin takes the data from the access_log your sites generate (you have to turn that option on in ensim if it isn't on).

However, you can insert a tiny piece of JS in your sites (called UTM) - this allows you to track visitors more precisely (are they recurring, how often have they been here, how long the intervals between visits?).

And whow long does it track? As long as you want. However, I installed the demo version on a medium traffic site lately, and Urchin was extremely slow there. Might be due to some error I made, but for my site, the way it was it was unusable (the site has app. 20.000 visitors a day and 200.000 pageviews acc. to Urchin).

Ah, my apologies for the innacurate information, I vageuly remember reading something somewhere about having to insert a small GIF file, perhaps it was to do with the visitor tracking you speak of. Anyway, i've ordered my Urchin upgrade through RS, just waiting for the install.

Actually I was correct, Urchin requires the insertion of a piece of Javascript and a GIF file into every page of the site for which you require unique visitor tracking.
