Is it possible to set up a primary NS that is NOT based on the RAQs main IP address? If so, this would really help me with the little DNS corner I have painted myself into.
Thanks!
My Raq has 3 IP's.
Two are for the DNS services. And the "Main" one that came with the RAQ, where my virtual sites operate. I just asked for two IP's to run a DNS server and received just that!
Go Rackshack!

If I am understanding what your asking, if you have servers other than the Raq from RackShack, and you have a DNS server running on this other server, yes you can run DNS for domains located on the Raq, as long as you have the proper A records, MX records and such.. now if your asking can you use one of the IP's provided on the Raq as the nameserver IP but setting up DNS on a server elsewhere, then no, but the rest is do-able, I have DNS servers in Utah and in Tennessee both pointing to domains on the Raq as well as visa-versa, I have DNS on My Raq pointing to domains elsewhere..

Yes, in fact it is suggested that you set it up that way. You should have 4 IP's:
Main IP = Main site only
2nd IP = ns.domain.com
3rd IP = ns2.domain.com
4th IP = virtual sites
additional ips = virtual sites
In fact you can run multiple nameservers on one system. I have a customer that I setup their own name servers on my RAQ...
