So I'm about to add a new domain on my new box for the first time. Still unsure how to do that. I assume I can add the new site as a new domain in WHM, or as a add-on subdomain of my main account in cPanel?

Are there any advantages or disadvantages to either method of adding a new domain - WHM or cPanel?

My server will only be hosting my own websites, so I will be the only one (hopefully) using the server for websites.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

If you create the account in WHM, it will have its own mail server, ftp, website, stats and all that. If you create an additional account in Cpanel, it will share mail server, ftp, website space, stats and so on with the main account. It would be a good policy to set them up in WHM which would allow you to utilize the account better.
