First off, My friend can log into the FTP and I cant. (with pureftp and proftp).

I dont even get a password error and it works straight off for him

Even logging into ssh, and trying.

ftp localhost or
ftp xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

doesnt work.

Secondly, the ftp process is running (as is apache since we can access pages). But in cpanel they both are listed as not running.

If i try and use whm to restart either, it comes up stops the process and complains that it cant restart the process, which is bull, because ps -aux reveals the process is indeed running...

The box isnt running any firewalls (until cpanel is all working), so any ideas?

I have tried, flash fxp, SmartFTP (what my friend uses), and an online FTP client. All have failed

This is just so annoying...

If your friend can get it working, perhaps you could ask him for all the settings he uses. That might help.

i belive he uses standard settings, but that doesnt explain why the box itself cant log in.

And, any idea's why cpanl reports apache as not working when it really is?

Try rebooting the entire server and if that does not help drop support a support ticket and have them look into it.

Ive tried rebooting, and nobody on cpanel forums has any idea either.

I just changed back over to proftpd.

and when I do, service proftpd restart. I get this error



But, If i do, service proftpd stop, service proftpd start.

It doesnt complain of any errors :shock:
