Hi all,

Is it possible to restore easily Ensim 3.5 backup on cPanel?
REBIS
I believe Cpanel has a script for this.

I believe a moderator should move this out of the HOW TO as this thread is not a HOW TO but rather a HOW DO I - perhaps General Server Talk would be a better area.

I also need the answer to this but cant find much about it. As far as cPanel having a script for this... well.... only if your are migrating from one server (ensim for example) to another (fresh cPanel). You didn't say if your drives are on two servers or both on one server (one drive plus slave). From what I have read on cPanel, short of some mail and database issues, cPanel has a button to migrate.

In about another week my situation will be the ensim (old slave drive) with a fresh new cPanel drive on one server. I asked on the cPanel forum if cPanel can migrate from a second drive on the same server, and the KNOW HOW folks there say you cant. Of course this is not totally true, since you can always copy the data over (ssh'ed in) as long as you are willing to deal with some path changes and permission changes.

NOTE: I found a VERY Interesting script just a couple of days ago on the ev1 cpanel forum. It looks like the guy has not actually tried this yet, but is putting out the scrlipt to see what we all think. I looked at it and it seems to make sense. (PROPS to the guy/gal who wrote it) ANYONE OUT THERE WILLING TO LOOK at it??

Here is the link:

the thread is called:
Ensim to CP with 2nd HD conversion simple shell script

I'm looking forward to anything about this TOO.
Thanks.

I took a quick link and what I first noticed is that mysql is not transferd. Also when you transfer you have to convert all the names as the cpanel and ensim naming scheme are different. I would say your best bet it to unzip the backups and manually do the accounts for now. I do not think there is any script you can do. The best method is just move from server > server and use the WHM utility, which again has the problems of the DB naming.

Hi and thank you, but it's not to migrate on an other server, just move some frenchspeaking customers on cPanel (Ensim doesn't have french language  ). There is databases and multiples pop account to move...

The scripts are changeable, that's the nice thing about them and why I posted it, since I have done all the hard stuff, you may only need to change a directory name for it to work for you.

I commented some more on the thread, so you may want to look at it again:

As for the databases I have on my server, it's not very hard to do a mysql export and import and I only have to do it on maybe 3 sites. I would create the databases using the cpanel interface, then do a import, not a big deal. You could probably use phpmyadmin if you didn't want to use the console.

The idea of the scipts was to have it perform the repetitive copy stuff I would have to do for each site.

If you have other commands you need to do for each site, it's simple to just add them at the end of the script.
