When you log into your cpanel email account it shows your username as a pop account. Since you cannot delete this pop account do you have to set it to :fail: in addition to your "default/catchall" or if you set your "default/catchall" to fail will it include the pop user account?

I want ALL emails to :fail:, including the default pop3 username account, how do I do that?

Thanks!

If you dont setup any email accounts and leave the default email account with a :fail: no such user then you will never recieve email to that account no matter what you do. If you want all mail to :fail: then set it up in the default with :fail: no such user and dont create any additional accounts.

So if I leave that existing account on there, the one with the username and I only put :fail: in the default area for all emails it will include the existing pop/username account?

You cant delete that email account. Its there to stay. If you place :fail: in the default setting all email will fail to deliver no matter who its sent to. If you want to setup account, go ahead, joe@yourdomain.com etc. Set joe to :fail: so that its not setup as a catchall, unless you want alot of spam.

Yes, my question is...

If I put :fail: in the "default" area, will it include the pop account that is already there when you set up the account?

Im not sure i understand the question. What do you mean by "will it include the the pop account"? You can still pop the server as username but you wont get any mail if you set it to :fail: Why would you want to pop it if it was not setup as a catchall? For that, you should setup your email addresses. Trying testing!

Basically I have a lot of accounts. I am not going to use email on any of them and want all the email to fail. Do I need to put :fail: in both the pop3 account that comes with it AND the default area?

Or if I put :fail: in the default area will it include that default pop account that is already there?

I appreciate your help!!

You need to set :fail: no such address here under Default address for every option shown. Thats it!

I think this sounds like a great way to get listed in the rfc-ignorant.org rbl database... As it's good netiquette to maintain at least an abuse@ or postmaster@ for every domain.

That being said, my best guess would be to :fail: the catchall and the domain contact email address. If the acctname@ address still works, try adding an alias to route it to :fail:.

You'll know soon enough what works by sending test email messages. If they don't fail, it didn't work!

Have fun,
