Is this available (Free?) for all RS clients?

Any client that has a cpanel server on the rackshack ip block can request the xcontroller + fantastico license from cpanelthemes and have their server added to their list for free.
If you don't already have the fantastico and xcontroller package already on your server, you can issue a TT to get it installed by rackshack.
All free
You can thank headsurfer for cutting a deal with those nice mates.

To add fantastico to cpanel themes
for x and x2 you only need to create symlinks:
cd /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/x
ln -s /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/xcontroller/fantastico
cd /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/x2
ln -s /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/xcontroller/fantastico
for xskin, you need to copy/paste the fantastico "include" code in x/index.html

to xskin/index.html (and also create the symlink as described above)

That would require me to give them my password?
Can't they just send me a tar so I can install it myself?

Change it to a temp password then give them that. Im sure they wont E-mail the tar since they have no way of knowing if you are an EV1 customer.

From what I heard their "installation procedure" hasn't really been successful for a lot of people. I'd rather not have fantastico than let them install it.

Why don't you get a copy of Fantastico from Kosmo at cpanelthemes.com and install it yourself. It is fairly simple. Also, Xcontroller is installed as a theme via WHM. Takes 10 seconds.
It worth the trouble.

Kosmo says that he doesn't provide any support in that matter since RS is supposed to install it.

I have done it but no more. I can hardly check who is entitled or not. Anyone can claim that he (she) is a RS customer and most of the people come with some hotmail/yahoo email address, send some IP and say they need the files.
Therefore I have stopped sending out files.
RS customers should expect to find the files on their server. If not, please contact RS support. They are the only ones who can know if you are a customer or not.
I hope everyone can understand this.

Arvand,
Look in /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend and see if you have xcontroller.tgz and xcontroller.tgz.1 in that directory?
If you do, extract xcontroller.tgz.1 and there you have fantastico installed on your server....
Make sure to extract xcontroller.tgz.1 and NOT xcontroller.tgz (which is an older version and that is the one RS installs and give everyone, including Kosmo, headaches).

What are the contents of your /etc/resolv.conf?
Did you run the /scripts/fixndc?

my resolv.conf just has the following;
nameserver 207.218.223.132

I haven't run /scripts/fixndc... should I?
Whats the ssh command to execute a file?
Thanks,

I would recommend modifying the /etc/resolv.conf to add different nameservers ..
ns3.ev1.net = 207.218.192.38
ns4.ev1.net = 207.218.192.39
Simply issue the commands at the prompt "cd /scripts" and "./fixndc"

I followed your directions precisely, checked to make sure the resolv.conf file has 127.0.0.0, made sure the ip is resolving, am pretty certain that my license has been activated but I'm not able to get the files. Here's the message that I get when I execute wget for xcontroller... - note the error message is not a permissions error. I checked tmp and it's 777 but this problem is premature to that anyway. Can you help?:

At that cpanelthemes web page, though, there's no place to enter name, email address and hostname. Instead, you're supposed to contact contact sales@ev1servers
So I contacted sales. Carlos S. said he can't help me. I need to submit a trouble ticket.
I submitted a trouble ticket. Their response:

Yes, they simply need to update the email template. And add a category in their ticket area for Fantastico.
Send in a ticket requesting your IP to be added to the accepted list for Fantastico.

If you read carefully, you need state you need it added to the list along with the IP.
The email address is also listed in your signup email. Hence the updated email template needed.

As opposed to simply stating in the trouble ticket that you want to have Fantastico activated? You have to be added to a *list*?
Thank you. And then what do you do, in order to get Fantastico *activated*, once you're on the *list*? If sales can't activate me, and support can't activate me, and cpanelthemes don't have a form to contact them, and they don't have an address to write to?

I probably ran into problems because I didn't recognize

Obviously some of us have Fantastico working.
I believe the clearer you are in your ticket and who you get to work your ticket, you will eventually get your server IP(s) added to the cpanelthemes list.
When this occurs simply follow the steps at the beginning of this thread and you will be on your way.

Many thanks to Ilias Moisidis at cpanelthemes who emailed me: "Although I shouldn't, I have activated your IP, so you can go back to doing business instead of playing games. But please also post this case in the EV1 forums. Maybe someone responsible reads this."
Sounds like the folks there have their act together.
Is there a reason why this has to be done one IP at a time?
I'm sure Rackshack has a list of all the IP blocks they own. It'd save both EV1 and cpanelthemes a lot of labor. It doesn't really matter whether you charge $X per server or $10X per block of 256 IPs if there are ten servers using Fantastico per block of 256 IPs.
Unless the idea is to save money on licenses by making it terribly difficult to get one....

Just to make sure anyone reading this knows the proper procedure:
If you have Cpanel from EV1Servers and you want Fantastico/XController activated please email
sales@ev1servers.net with your RS number and the IP of the server or servers you want these activated for. This can also be done via livesupport or trouble ticket, but email is the best method and will normally give you the quickest results for this license activation.

Unfortunately one by one is the only way cpanelthemes will allow us to do the activations at this time.

Hello,
Ev1 has already activated the license on my server and I have changed my accounts over to xcontroller. Fantastico shows up inside of my :2082 or :2083 log ins, but it says that it is not setup. I tried to figure out what to do from this post. I also went to cpanelthemes.com, but couldn't find anything but a link to this post. The links that are in the original post for setup, etc. do not seem to resolve to a site.
I used putty to ssh in and I can go to the directories (ie no forbidden errors) and I can download the .tgz file for the newest version, etc., but can't seem to get the first link in the initial start of this post to work. This is probably a stupid question, but the ... part seems wrong to me; did the forum perhaps cut part of the link that I need to type in here?
I apologize for taking up your time, but this is the point I am at right now.
No worries about time, as I don't really need fantastico; I'd just like to have it to play with and will get it done anyway by someone else in a few days if I can't figure it out; I would just like to learn a bit more about what I'm doing.
Thanks.
