2 Advance Media,

I have been hosting with The Planet for about 3 years now. There was only one spot of downtime that affected me, which was September 11th 2006. The Planet's router software provider had pushed out buggy software versions to some equipment, resulting in roughly 2 hours of downtime. Although The Planet had tested the software, it malfunctioned when it reached the equipment for some reason. Even with that said, 2 hours of downtime in about 3 years is not bad at all.

The Planet uses very high quality hardware. I've only had a motherboard die on my once and it was replaced within 40 minutes.

Most of the time, support will knock your socks off. I currently have a ticket in regarding a cPanel bug. I've been watching what the tech has been doing in shell, and this is yet another assurance that my business is in safe, capable hands.

Overall, I would say, yes The Planet may be slightly more expensive than some others. But that price includes one of the biggest, most stable, most available networks in the industry.

PhireFast offers Shared website hosting, while donating 400-600 internet radio slots to various internet radio stations. Even with these two responsibilities on its shoulders, The Planet's network and equipment have proven to be top notch.

I don't work for The Planet and I gain nothing from you hosting with The Planet. But if you're looking for more reassurance, you can see some customer success stories. Mine is on that page, 4th one down.

I wouldn't waste my time talking highly about a company that doesn't deserve the praise, now would I? smile.gif

Thanks Markcausa.

Wassup with the billing and update problem? I read here and there, it is seen like every time they update there are some problem with the server... Also support ticket? is that phone support for? look like they have a 1 800 number why need to open ticket?

Okay at beginning my sever cost me around $600 per month but within 6 month i maybe upgrade to a higher level and cost me $1-3k per month. so my question is HOW RELIABLE FOR $600 to start off? 100% up times?

anyone try liquid web? which one better liquid web or TP

You're most welcome. Regarding phone support VS tickets, a) Tickets help keep everything on the record, which helps protect both the customer needing support and The Planet. b) When you have to send in logs and things of that nature, it's best to use a ticket. smile.gif Don't get me wrong though, phone support is very effective.

Every server, from $69-∞/mo. (infinity) is *basically* on the same network. They share the same great backbone providers and core switches. smile.gif With that said, I don't know if The Planet guarantees uptime.

I've read some pretty disappointing reviews about LW. But I've never hosted with them, so I can't provide a person opinion or experience. Can anyone else?

Hmmm, I've ordered upgrades for RAM, Harddrives AND bandwidth recently and it seems to be an easy process.

I think the issue in the thread you referenced is that he maxed out his RAM (8GB) and needed more, and didn't understand that he'd have to migrate to a new server. If I quickly browsed over it correctly.

It usually works like this:

Hardware upgrades:
1) When you place the order with your sales team member he/she will open a ticket asking you to confirm the order and specify when they should take the server offline for the operation. (I usually specify 2am Pacific, our slowest hour)
2) You specify the time
3) They confirm when it's done, back online and ping-able
Bandwidth upgrades:
This is simply an accounting procedure. There is no interruption of service in this circumstance.

According to PhireFast's credit card processor, the hosting industry is in the top three of most fraudulent industries, so I understood when The Planet wanted a copy of my ID. I hope you can see why they ask for it. smile.gif

Well according to the 2 Advandce Media Inc. We dont give out our cc number to anyone especially over the internet. Yes I do understand about the fraud, however, I am order $450 dedicated server per month. So this is a serious.. If you talking about fraud, most of them just order a basic hosting, becaus they know is not last for long..so when somone order that much money that mean is a serious BUSINESS.

anyway, i find most of your post are useless (one sentence here and there), all you do is try to ADvertistment on your signature. I am pretty sure that you are a reseller and your server is purchased from ThePlanet.

If the order is fraud then what do the scammers care how much it costs? It's not like it's their money ... If it's a stolen credit card why not buy 10 servers at $450/month each? It'll get taken down in generally a month or less, but how many phishing sites can you host on a beefy server? Perhaps botnet C&C instances?

Our payment system processes hundreds, if not thousands of credit cards every day. I don't know what caused the errors you had in placing your order, but the only other alternative we have is "I'm sorry, we can't help you." Saying that you are frustrated with the system doesn't change the steps we take to ensure that fraud is checked and handled appropriately. As a consumer with such protected payment information, I'm sure you can appreciate that we don't want someone else using your card fraudulently. The best way we can physically confirm this is with an ID and the actual card.

I certainly don't intend to belittle your problem... I just want to help you understand why the policies are in place. I'm sorry that the buying experience has been so problematic.

Forgive me, board. I feel that I need to quickly assess the issues at hand rather than let any future viewers of this post be fooled about my character and how seriously I take my one and only business.

1. PhireFast leases servers from The Planet and our in house Team manages them. This is like buying metal from The Planet and forming it into a car - I definitely wouldn't consider that reselling. I wake up to a monitor of system status every morning and spend my day dispatching tickets to PhireFast's Ticket Techs - Does this sound like the comfy life of a reseller? smile.gif

2. Yes, my servers are purchased from The Planet... I'm wondering if you could tell from my Customer Success Story, the fact that I'm posting here on the boards or if you pinged one of my boxes.

On a much lighter note, this is hilarious:
