Firstly I know completely nothing about the technicalities of email.
I have a dedicated Windows 2003 server running a messageboard (IPB). Thats all it does. The only thing I need mail server for is so the forum software can send out emails (user validations, topic notifications etc). I don't need incoming email at all. Plesk is on there and Mailenable. When I set the server up (3 yrs ago) I got some advice on settings etc for the above. Everything seems to be running fine re the outgoing mails from the board, however I noticed that my Mailenable folder is over 3Gb, most of which seems to be in INBOX of the postoffice setup for my board. My questions.. 1. How do I get rid of the stuff in this INBOX ? I tried a MEPURGE program from the ME site but because the postoffice seems to have been created in a non-standard structure it didn't work. If I try to open the folder in windows it times-out and locks up explorer. Is it safe to simply delete the INBOX and create a new folder called INBOX in its place? 2. How can I disable emails coming in all together ? I assume they must be spam as I do not use the domain for any mail. Only the board software uses it. thanx! |
