Hey guys, I rented a dedicated box without any cortex or any panels. I just wanted it for 3 or two game servers. So I installed everything fine have my game servers running like Fortress Forever and TF2. Now I have IP range of 5 ip addresses. I tried puting IP address into the shortcut for HLDS for FF and TF2 and it doesnt work. I only can run 2 game servers from 2 different installation files when I choose different port. where is first game I would put port 27015 , and TF2 I would put port 27035.
Is there a way to have each one of those game servers to run on one IP address with default port and another one on other IP address with default port. I do not like using different ports, since most people assume default port and just use IP address. For some reason I just cant make the second instance of game server to run on different IP address , gives me and error, like it can't pull that IP address from the IP range that assigned to me. Anotherwords, it is possible to assign different IP addresses to each application?? I only see one NIC card. I used to be able to do that with 2 NIC cards before back in the days. Is that default 5 IP address range that comes with the server is only for purposes of switching main IP address If I wanted to and thats it? By the way Servers is Windows 2003 OS server. Any help would be appreciated |

Did you bind all your useable IP's? Look in cortex and see if they are showing as available. If not, just go into Cortex's network settings and bind them.

It is just a dedicated server. I couldn't afford to pay for gaming setup, when all I just wanted to run 3 or 2 game isntances. Very basic dedicated Server. Again No Cortex or any control panel, just windows 2003 server. Any way to bind IP address without cortex??? |

Sorry man, real tired and I skimmed your question and just saw CORTEX..
Just add whatever you need to your command line for that server.... example. +ip 12.34.567.89 to your command line binds that game to that IP. |

Not even sure how one network card can request to run one application on one ip and another app on another IP. Is that the only way to make that app run on different IP? |

Yes. Windows 2003 lets you have multiple IPs bound to one NIC. I imagine TP didn't bind the additional IPs to your NIC. Run "ipconfig" in command line to make sure all five IPs are bound to your NIC. In Source games +ip in command line to bind a source game to an IP.

Here is a great tutorial on adding IP address to a Windows 2003 Server https://support.steadfast.net/index.php?_m=...=22&nav=0,3 That has to be the most retarded way to add IPs. Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Right Click "Properties" for connection -> Click TCP/IP then press properties button. -> Click Advanced the bottom corner. Make sure "IP Settings" tab is select (by default it is) and click "Add" button. Add IP with subnet mask and hit ok. Continue to do that until all IPs have been successfully added. Once that's complete, click "Ok" till all dialog boxes are gone. All the new IPs are on your box. -------------------- |

Ok I actually figured it out and managed to start both HL2 source servers on different IP addresses with the same port 27015. The only thing in my steam client now it shows both servers down. I added the IP addresses and ports and it shows them both down. I connect remotely to the server and see the two instances running fine. The minute I change one of the instances ports to 27035 , then my client steam sees both servers. So even if I now have those 2 instances split into 2 IP addresses, I still have to use 2 different ports??? I mean, I do not see any errors on the server itself with ports conflicting. Is it Steam, just cant figure it out since technically even with 2 IP addresses it is on the same machine? I'm not the only one running more then one HL2 sources on the same machine. Does everybody changes the port number too even with 2 different IP addresses? Or maybe it is only temporary that I can not see both servers up on Steam client?? Maybe after the while the Steam client updates itself and sorts it out. For now I'm stuck with 2 instances running on 2 different IPs and with second one on port 27035. My ideal solution would be to have them on 2 different ip addresses and same default port number, so it looks like they are on 2 different machines. I just thought that since it is 2 different IP addresses each address has the same availabitiy on ports, so there will be no interference on port numbers, but seems like on steam side it doesn't see it that way even though I can see 2 console windows with 2 instances running fine on the server . |

Yes, if your properly setting +ip correctly, then it should be working. However, since it's not, obviously there is a problem.
Once SCRDS starts up, type "status" intot he window and see if bound to right port. -------------------- |
