Does anyone know how to load BFPro (CAL Competition - requirement)through Cortex?

Forums' comments.

CAL-BF2 8v8 Preseason extended by one week, BF2Pro, Main teams

CAL-BF2 has decided to extend the 8v8 preseason by one week. This is because the release of the 1.4 patch is imminent, and we are looking into the use of BF2Pro for regular season.

For those of you who don't know what BF2Pro is, it is a mod that improves BF2's gameplay by making the infantry combat less random, by reducing helicopter TV missile dominance, and by improving class balance. It also has the benefit of including all of the changes of the CAL-BF2 mappack (used last season) in a much smaller package. This means that if BF2Pro is used, the 460MB season 3 mappack is not required. The download size is ~24MB for both clients and servers.
For more details, see this thread:

http://forums.caleague.com/showthread.php?t=52374

The latest BF2Pro (v1.4) can be downloaded from our Files section.

Preliminary polls to team leaders show that there is some support for using BF2Pro, but very few teams have actually tried it in a competitive environment. For testing purposes, BF2Pro 1.4 will be mandatory for the Preseason Week 4 match. The map will be FuShe Pass. Note that BF2Pro will not necessarily be mandatory for regular season in the Open division, pending on the opinions of active Open teams. A majority of the Main teams have already shown support for it, so it is very likely to be mandatory in that division.

I like to see someone reply to this cause we are in the same boat here. Why pay you guys 200 a month for a dedicate box when you cant install stuff like this when these leagues require it. The funny thing is cal is supported by you guys yet you dont an answer for this yet. Please respond ASAP, I beleive from all the exiperinece I have had with cortex you all need to incorporate thisinstall into the cortex itself. I have sat in the insominia Mirc channel for a while an no response there so maybe we will get something here.

If you have a ranked server, the installer for BFPro is basically useless. If not, you just need to RDP to your machine and download the .exe and run it.

Looking at the 'Zip file (for Linux servers or some remote installations)', which would probably let you do it through Cortex, that might not work on Windows.

I spoke with TCBDarkSoul on IRC about this. I'd like to see it done too. We'll see what we can do. I can't promise anything because BF2 is a strange and mythic beast that doesn't lend itself well to modding with any kind of structure. But I'll see what we can do. icon_smile.gif

Is this the right place to get BF2Pro from? http://bf2pro.20id.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=2

Here is the current version of bf2pro they are talking about running for this upcoming season. I did one time before have a bf2pro server up and running but it was outside cortex back when we purchased servers through DNRgamehosts that came through you guys. We were unable at the time to install it through cortex directly, but it seemed to me as if it were to be installed like an engine it would work correctly, just a thought.

BF2pro version 1.4 download here http://forums.caleague.com/showthread.php?t=52374

thanks for the speedy jump on this claude hopefully everythign well work out and we can get this running.

Well, after much fiddling, we got it installed on our BF2 servers..

It can be done.. But a ticket must be logged to support..

Klaude, I can explain what we did.. If you have time..

email me at the address in my profile with how to reach you and I'll explain it.

I am escalating this for more information.

(lreese-08/31/2006 09:46:23):
Unfortunately we can not install this for you at this time. We will be working in the near future to have the ability to enable BF2Pro as a plugin.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please let us know how to do this so we can run it on our server for this coming weeks match in CAL. I think its pretty crappy being a supporter of CAL and yet you can install something that they say is a must. The two of you need to work together more then what you do apparently or thing wouldnt not have been problem for anyone involved in CAL.

Any way you guys can get this fixed? We are now paying for a box that can't be used because it doesn't have bf2pro. If you don't at least help us out we will be forced to look for other providers of servers that can get this installed. If one guy can do it, I'm sure "the planet" can get it done for us.

We liked the sever, please don't make us look for other providers,

.Mike.

We are in Cal along with 1/2 of the cortex community and NOONE can install the BF2PRO mod.

THIS IS INSANE.

Please help.

CAlling all nerds who have installed any BF2 mod on their servers. We will pay big $$$ for the solution. We removed our ranked server via OS reload just to be able to install the bf2pro mod and so far, it is a NO GO!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, we've had to rent a server just to run the dam game, and were in CAL MAIN!!!! This is insane, you guys sponsor CAL and yet you will not help the CAL teams get this fixed.

This is seriously pissing me off.
