Hi,

I just ordered the ss28 with windows 2003 on it.

What i need the server for is for a few games which only run on windows and about 10 or so websties.

All of the sites are php-nuke.

So do I have to install apache, php and mysql or as some of the posts I have read said to use Windows.

Is there any good packages that come with apapche, php, and mysql togethor? I have looked at xxaamp.

And as far as the contol panel and whm do i need the linux version or windows.

Sorry Im kinda confused as this is my first dedicated machine. I am used to shared reseller hosting plan and tools.

Thank you for your time in advance!

Trevor

I have no experience with PHP Nuke but from their website, it appears that you probably need a Linux server to fully utilize it.

If you are looking for a CMS for Windows, you might want to look at Dotnet Nuke http://www.dotnetnuke.com/ instead.

If you intend to install Apache and CPanel/WHM then you be better off with a Linux machine instead.

Cpanel/WHM does not work under Windows only under *nix environment.

Ah, yes you can. You will need to disbale IIS before you do that. I've not tried it but let us know how it goes.

Still better of installing PHP into IIS and using IIS 6.

You also might want a better CMS then php-nuke.

It should run, most major PHP extensions are available under IIS. I have maybe one or two clients that are using PHPNUKE. I can't vouch for every module in the world though.

Nuke run's fine in a windows enviroment. All is needed besides ISS is php and mysql. Both are free and pretty easily configured.

I wouldn't use the official release of Nuke if you payed me but I will suggest Raven-Nuke which is just a updated secured version. 10 times better than the official release and still just as compatible with all the other modules.

If you need any help feel free to contact me.

I personally use XOOPS for all my CMS based sites. Its secure, pretty fast (mine is under 0.05sec per page with some modification), and has a lot of modules and themes.
