We would like to backup all client account information, mysql and all WHM settings. Basically everything except the OS. The server has cpanel on a linux box. Anyone have a recommendation of which directories to backup.

With cpanel, it is usually best to use the cpbackup script in conjunction with our NAS Backup product.
Otherwise, it is best to use DiskSync to backup the cpbackup results. Be aware, however, that cpbackups are typically very large, and you may exceed your subscription rate very quickly. Other than this, the only recommendation The Planet can make is to backup all data from all local disks and folders, as this is the only way to ensure that you not only have protected everything vital to your system, but have also given yourself the ability to quickly restore the entire system with a very simple operation. -------------------- Sincerely,

Are you saying its a two part process or can I perform the entire backup with Disksync. If I do the backup with Disksync will it include the cpanel information.

Greetings,
If you backup everthing on the disk, you will backup cpanel and the cpbackup results, if cpbackup is enabled. Ultimately it is your decision as to what you would like to backup, and how. -------------------- Sincerely,

When you say if cpbackup is enabled are you referring to enabling it in WHM. If so, won't it then backup to one of the HDD.
If I understand, then I need to create a cpbackup directory, enable cpbackup in WHM, back to HDD then use Disksync. Is my thinking correct? |

I would prefer only using Disksync for the entire backup. These are my folders. Is it necessary to back them all up. If not which ones are client and cpanel critical.
/ /bin /boot /dev /etc /home /home2 /initrd /lib /lost+found /misc /opt /proc /root /sbin /scripts /tftboot /tmp /usr /var Sorry for being sucha a newb. |

We are adding DiskSync to our cPanel server and will be backing up the entire disk. The way I see it, it's worth it to not have to guess. We'll probably exclude some logs, etc. but everything else will go.
