I was just looking at the EV1servers.net site and they have the same firewall appliance that Server matrix carries for $29 per mont..that's a 20-30 dollar per month savings over Server Matrix..I was wondering if Server Matrix is going to do anything to match this price or beat it?

probably not. sm has much lower server prices and uses add-ons like that to make up the difference. Compare the price of a p2.4 w/firewall and the complete package is still cheaper here.

Actually SM charges exactly the same as EV1 (149$/mth) when you compare the setup fees, and EV1's box comes with 1400GB to boot. However, EV1 doesn't give you the option of paying a higher setup fee to save money in the long run. -------------------- Regards, Guspaz.

except sm runs specials all the time. if there's not one at any given time, there will be within a week or two. I picked up two of the P2.4 specials here last night, $99/$99, far better price than ev1. Plus that $149 box at ev1 is only 512 ram. Personally, I think ev1 has some strong points in a direct comparison with sm, but not price. except for ssl, heh.

Actually I am not aware of EV1 offering the same firewalls.
I do know they offer the PCI based Snapgear, however we stopped offering this firewall. The firewalls we offer are all external hardware devices. Server Matrix has the options of the following firewalls. Snapgear 550: $69/mth Snapgear 570: $99/mth Cisco PIX 501: $99/mth If the server is already online and you select a firewall a setup fee of $75 is also applied. Hope this helps. -------------------- |

Why did you stop offering the PCI?

It was unreliable and unable to meet the specs the manufacturer provided. Slow, IOW. -------------------- Stephanie Cameron
